tutorials for mere mortals, social media for the rest of us

Coming soon to a virtual classroom near you

Yes, I really did say that toungue-in-cheek. If a classroom is “virtual,” it’s near anywhere.

In all seriousness, another Fall semester at ACC (Austin Community College) approaches, another of my PHP courses will be offered. This time around, however, instead of the agony we went through last year of trying to get PHP, MySQL and phpMyAdmin working on various and sundry systems with a butt-load of problems, everyone will be required to install XAMPP on their own systems. This should save a lot of time and headaches, and we’ll all be on the same page.

Have I told you how much I love XAMPP? (Please don’t ever expect me to use the word “heart” - I think that’s insipid.)

This year, I will also offer a short course on “Web 2.0: Social Media and Networking - The evolution of the Web from static content delivery to dynamic
user-generated content, how social media is leveraged in enterprise and
open source software in real-world application.”

Now, I just have to write the darned syllabus - hah!

Q: What did you do during your summer vacation?

A: I wrote a syllabus for a new course on a subject matter that the entire webosphere is trying to explain.
